Venugopal (Venu) is a versatile electrical systems engineer and project manager with over 25 years of varied experience in rail systems engineering, project management, engineering design management and client management. Along with his Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics, Venu is also a certified RPEV, RPEQ, Project Management Professional (PMP®) and a Chartered Electrical Engineer with Engineers Australia.
He has a career path in project management, design, installation, testing and commissioning on rail projects and has been instrumental in the successful delivery of various railway projects across Australia. He has strong technical and engineering skills in rail systems, including signalling, electrical and power, tracks/turnouts, rollingstock and rail systems integration through his varied roles with Worleys, Parsons, Alstom, Bombardier, Voestalpine, CPB, JHG, IRE, ARTC, INLAND RAIL, MTM, V/Line, WPA, Alstom, Laing O'Rourke and many other tier one contractors globally.
A seasoned rail systems professional, Venu has also been responsible for developing signalling functional specifications, safety assurance reports, testing and commissioning plans, type approvals of track and signalling equipment (with multiple rail operators across Australia), design reports, plans, circuit diagrams, cable schedules, power calculations, braking overlap calculations and as-built drawings on complex rail projects. As well as project managing the delivery and construction of rail signalling-related infrastructure.
His experience includes working on several large multi-disciplinary rail projects and tenders, such as South West Rail Link NSW, North West Rail Link NSW, Pakenham East Depot, High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT), Rio Tinto-Koodaideri, FMG-Eliwana, Canberra Metro project, Gold Coast Light Rail, Newcastle Light Rail, ARTC projects, Level Crossings Removal Program (LXRP),Vline, MTM, Digital System Program, Metro Tunnel Project, MAR Project with CBTC/ETCS, Rail System Projects and Rollingstock Integration Works.
