Envista Forensics Expands Global Marine Practice

Atlanta – 22 March 2021

ATLANTA – March 22, 2021 – Envista Forensics, a leading global forensic consulting company, welcomes Michael Venturella, PE as Practice Leader of Envista’s Marine division in Washington D.C. and Kevin Byers, Project Engineer out of Miami, FL.

Venturella has over 20 years of experience in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. His broad expertise and knowledge in the marine industry includes operation of deep draft commercial and military vessels, forensic marine investigation, marine survey, commercial shipbuilding and repair, salvage engineering, machinery, vital system automation, hull structural failures, and stability.

“I am deeply grateful to Envista Forensics for providing me this incredible opportunity to lead the Marine group,” Venturella stated. “It is my intention to utilize my broad marine industry expertise to expand Envista’s reach to all facets of the industry both in the United States and globally.”

Prior to joining Envista, Venturella had a decorated U.S. Coast Guard career from which he retired as a Commander. During his time with the U.S. Coast Guard, he served as an engineer on Coast Guard cutters, Senior Naval Architect and Salvage Engineer, highest-ranked active Coast Guard Marine Surveyor, Lead Auditor of maritime company management systems, and a leading Forensic Investigator for the most high profile marine investigations led by the Coast Guard. Additionally, Venturella has been published numerous times and is an established global leader in the marine industry.

Along with new Practice Lead, Michael Venturella, Envista has also expanded their Marine practice with the addition of Kevin Byers, PE. Byers, who joins as Project Engineer, will be a part of the rapidly growing Marine division at Envista in Miami.

“I’m looking forward to applying the expertise I’ve developed as a Naval Architect and Ship Designer to solving challenging technical problems,” Byers stated. “I could not be more excited to do so as part of the Envista team.” 

With over 10 years of experience in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, he will leverage his expertise in ship design, acquisition, and modernization to provide damage assessment and failure analysis following marine accidents and incidents involving ship stability, hydrodynamics, outfitting, ship structural design, and offshore vessels.

Mr. Kevin Byers is a Project Engineer in naval architecture and marine engineering with over 10 years of experience in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He has extensive experience in ship design, acquisition, and modernization, with previous work focusing on Navy combatants and auxiliaries, Coast Guard cutters, and cruise ships. In the Defense sector, past clients include Navy, Coast Guard and Army ship acquisition programs, as well as shipyards and defense contractors across the country. In the commercial sector, past clients and consultants include cruise lines, classification societies, and international ship design firms.
