At Envista, Mr. Kivisto carries out forensic investigations of equipment failure and loss, and assessment of causation, damage, and available recovery options. Successful investigations include assessment of manufacturing defects, wind, hail, snow, rodent, fire, flood, environmental, and operational damage in residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar installations sized between 10-kilowatts and 40-megawatts, including electrical switchgear and distribution equipment in renewable energy plants, commercial and industrial facilities, and broadcast radio and television transmission installations.
He has authored and presented publications at international offshore technology conferences and exhibitions in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and he developed, patented, and successfully applied subsea waterjet technology to aid subsea intervention and oil well blowout response.
Mr. Kivisto's experience includes equipment loss consulting, forensic investigation, solar and wind generation plants, battery energy storage systems, successful designs of subsea equipment, diesel-powered electrical systems, and embedded controls. He also has more than a decade of ordnance and ballistics testing and safe handling of primary and secondary explosives related to fuses and explosively formed penetrators. He has successfully investigated exploding target personal injury cases.
