Mr. Howarth served as the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit Commander for more than 6 years while with Anne Arundel County and he has experience working in the State and Federal criminal justice system. Robert has investigated more than 900 fires, in both the public and private sectors, providing origin & cause investigations..

Mr. Howarth is a Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI), Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (NAFI-CFEI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (NAFI-CVFI). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation from Eastern Kentucky University.

An accomplished speaker and published author, he has presented at Firehouse Expo, International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Fire Academy on Fire Investigation, Community Risk Reduction, Residential Sprinkler Advocacy, Hazardous Materials and Explosive Devices.
