Technical Lead-Fire & Explosion - Major Loss, Tech/Prac Lead

Lawrence Canary, IFSAC-CFI, NAFI-CFEI, CFII, FCLS is the Technical Lead of Fire and Explosion for Major Loss. Mr. Canary was previously the Vice President of Fire and Explosion for the UK and Nordics. He created the program from the ground up: recruiting, training and establishing the brand while achieving 1900% growth in the UK, as well as a growth of 500% in the Nordics. Prior to his work in the UK, Larry served as the Vice President – West Region Manager of the Fire & Explosion Division of Envista Forensics. He has over 30 years of fire and explosion investigation experience and has personally conducted or supervised over 1,700 fire investigations domestically and internationally. Mr. Canary began his military career in the Fire Service, became an Instructor at the DOD Fire Academy, and taught Fire Lawrence Canary, IFSAC-CFI, NAFI-CFEI, CFII, FCLS is the Technical Lead of Fire and Explosion for Major Loss. Mr. Canary was previously the Vice President of Fire and Explosion for the UK and Nordics. He retired as a Special Agent (Federal) from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, where he conducted Fire/Arson Investigations worldwide for the DOD. He later served as the Supervisor of the King County Fire/Arson Investigation Unit in Washington state. He has testified as an expert in fire and explosion investigations in both state and military federal courts. Mr. Canary’s experience includes large/complex loss management and investigations that have involved lengthy deployments and team responses. Examples of his large/complex losses investigations include: losses involving refineries, multi-residential domestic and overseas complexes, commercial fish production facilities, commercial chicken house complexes, a correctional facility, an alternative fuels distribution plant, large industrial and educational facilities, battery warehousing, solar and heavy equipment, super yacht hangar, wildland fires and multiple fatality incidents. Mr. Canary also conducted a fire origin and cause investigation onboard the USS Independence that resulted in damages in excess of $100M. Additionally, Mr. Canary has provided college level instruction for fire investigation courses and was a field instructor for the National Fire Academy.
